(kode.orania@yahoo.com) ABSTRACT Purpose of this study is to identify the knowledge and attitudes towards pesticide use. The participants are the respondents of a study, of which the purpose is to analyze the perception of toxicity in the use of pesticides and have knowledge about the effects of pesticides. Elaboration of the data obtained from the respondents consists of the description of the characteristics of the respondents and a comparative analysis with respect to the state of Kerala, to see if there is difference in opinion. The study uses descriptive, observational, using statistical analysis. The number of respondents used is 75 samples taken from Sinting, North Sumatra, and Jakarta Sidoarjo. Out of 75 respondents used, there were 25 items, namely the number of respondents, educational qualification, marital status, occupation, pesticide use knowledge and the attitude of respondents towards pesticide use. Data obtained from observations in the field and laboratory tests in this study will be presented in table form. Results of data obtained from observations in the sample selection of the respondents were found that the number of respondents from Sinting were more active than those from Sinting Jakarta Sidoarjo (24.64% vs. 2.66%), more knowledgeable about the use of pesticides (92.38% vs. 83.33%), more knowledgeable about the effects of pesticides (93.75% vs. 86.11%), and have more correct attitudes towards the use of pesticides (96.00% vs. 88.66%).
