I have a BenQ W300 monitor running at 1680x1050 60Hz which I usually play games @ 1660x1050 (same monitor btw) running on my Windows 10 x64 home desktop at 4k and my 2015 Mac Pro running at 5650x1080.
I had a beta version of Fallout 4 so I decided to see how it was by pulling up gamepass and even playing the alpha version of Fallout 4. I ran it at 4k and at 1660x1050 and at 1680x1050 and noticed nothing gamebreaking.
i have no idea what my drivers are, but I assume I have opengl and the latest on my card. before i dont use dx 11, my gtx 970 usually run at about 28-31 fps. do i need dx11? I heard that dx11 is good for gpu rendering but does it make my fps better?
You should have a way to preview textures for a lot of games. For mine I have Far Cry 4 set to 1080p and once I move below 720p all the textures and view distance get messed up. I just move it up a little then the textures look fine again.
I know it can be a couple of hours before they get fixed but pretty sure that you have some default setting that is giving your performance a big bump. I'm not sure where the settings are for Far Cry 4.
When I turned down the pixel fill rate and texture quality (applied it in the game settings) under V-Sync and ran the game @ 4K / 1440p, I got horrible fps (around 20 - 25).
I tried to adjust the vertices (mesh and sprite) settings in the game (I'm controlling the camera, basically), but it didn't seem to fix the problem.
